McDonald’s continue to support BET as the network celebrates its 40th birthday, and 20th award show ceremony.
The fast food franchise donated a portion of its ad space to amplify the voices of notable Black figures like Melissa Butler, founder & CEO of the Lip Bar, and Killer Mike.
The rapper’s video emphasize the importance of circulating the Black dollar throughout Black communities. “I believe in Black economy. I also believe in Black economics and turning the dollar in our community as much as possible,” the Run the Jewels rapper stated. I also believe higher learning isn’t just college, but trades.
Mike is featured in the video with Gary Davis, founder of Next Level Boy’s Academy in Atlanta, and they have a mentorship program that is aimed to keep Black men out of prison.
There are a total of 13 videos for McDonald’s Voices segment, and nine will air during the BET Awards on Sunday, June 28th as the company works to be a catalyst for reform. Killer Mike’s spot will air on July 5th during an encore airing of the 20th-anniversary award ceremony.
